Big Panda Bear, Brownie, Fluffy, Snowball, Pudding, Aqua, Turquoise, Coddie, Arrow, Curlicue, Peanut, Clementine, Banana...

Was there a moment it vanished, or did it fade over time? I used to hear a stuffed animal introduce herself the first moment we met. Now I don't. Now when I meet a new stuffed animal, silence. I have to wait, alert for clues, signs, any effort on the part of the animal to translate her name into a language I still speak. It can take days, months, or I never catch it.

Is there any way to recapture that ability? Or do you lose it forever?
